Inspection of Gas Installations for Residential and Commercial Premises
If you are a member of the MCST Management Committee , a manager of commercial premises, or a building owner, you may have received a letter from SP Group titled: “Notification for Inspection of Gas Installation for Residential/Commercial Premises.”
Under the Gas Act (Cap. 116A) , PowerGas Ltd is responsible for maintaining gas mains up to the Gas Service Isolation Valve (GSIV) . However, property owners are accountable for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing the gas pipes from the GSIV to the meter.
To ensure compliance with the Gas Supply Code , inspections must be carried out every 5 years by a Licensed Gas Service Worker (LGSW) or a Professional Engineer (PE) . A Certificate of Fitness (GILS-60) must then be submitted to PowerGas as proof of compliance.
